Northern Crusades

Four dismounted western knights and two baltic javelinmen from Zvezda. Based on 50 x 20mm DBA style bases (I will probably move to 60mm for future projects, as the figures are quite cramped), but I intend to use them for Lion Rampant. Enjoy!

 

 

Painting Report - January 2021

I've manage to paint only two figures this month. Both are from Zvezda medieval range. I hope photos are better than last time :) .

Jan Zizka

First medieval historical character I have ever painted - Jan Zizka, famous XV century Czech mercenary and brilliant tactician implementing Wagenburg (war wagon) tactics during Hussite Wars (1419-1434). He is thought to have lost one of his eyes during battle of Grunwald in 1410. 

The miniature itself is a conversion based on Zvezda knight, with DDS Landsknecht head and mace from Miniart Hussite set. The eyepatch is scratch build. I painted him in red and white, with red crayfish on the shield based on Zizka family coat of arms. I guess that's it, enjoy the photos.

Late Medieval Men at Arms

I painted some foot soldiers from XV century Europe. Miniatures are from Zvezda English Knights and French Men at Arms sets.

Viking Warlord

A little side project, completed in about three hours. Viking warlord in 1/72 scale by Zvezda. Nothing special about this miniature, but I was able to practice my photography skills a bit. Enjoy!

Two Angry Vikings

I recently painted up two of  the Zvezda Vikings and I have to say I love Zvezda sculpting. These are two "most civilized" poses (I mean they have chainmail and stuff). They look great and can be used for any early medieval or fantasy setting as well. I'm looking at you warriors of Rohan 😃.
